Common concerns for young children include separation anxiety, inattention/distractibility, hyperactivity/impulsivity, difficulty following caregiver instructions,  trouble with bedtime/sleep routine, tantrums, and adjustment to the school setting. For children this age, effective interventions rely on high levels of caregiver participation. Sessions may be held jointly with both the caregiver and child present for live coaching and practice of parenting skills.

Parenting Teens and Young Adults

Common concerns for caregivers of teens and young adults are centered on fostering both independence and accountability, maintaining open communication, responding to conduct concerns, addressing "failure to launch," and providing age-appropriate support and guidance. Therapeutic intervention is generally focused on understanding typical development in adolescence and young adulthood, maintaining expectations and boundaries, and shifting the parenting role to one of mentorship. Sessions are generally conducted as caregiver-only.
