Food Relationship & GLP-1s

Sunlit Room_edited.jpg

When eating feels out of control, it is often interpreted as a failure of discipline. But eating patterns do not exist in a vacuum. They can be influenced by:

  • metabolic function

  • hormone signaling

  • stress

  • loneliness

  • self-critical thinking

  • past experiences with food

  • long-standing habits around coping

Many people additionally describe constant preoccupation with food or rarely feeling fully satisfied. These experiences can feel confusing, shameful, or deeply personal. Whether you identify with overeating, binge eating, or simply feeling stuck in your relationship with food, therapy offers space to explore what is driving the cycle and how to shift it in a sustainable way.

There is significant overlap between people navigating persistent struggles around eating and people considering GLP-1 medications. For some, GLP-1s become part of their health plan. For others, they do not. You may be clear about your decision, ambivalent, or still gathering information. This work does not require a particular stance. Therapy can support you and your health goals as you navigate what feels right for you.
