A Virtual Psychology Practice
Couples therapy
Weekend intensives
Leesburg, FL
Weekends are scheduled based on public interest
1 / How can we decide if this workshop is what we're looking for?
Our weekend workshops are appropriate for couples seeking to reconnect, improve communication, find balance in their partnership, resolve conflict, adjust to changes in their relationship, rediscover intimacy, and rebuild friendship. We complete brief screening appointments prior to accepting reservations in order to assess goodness of fit, so if you feel uncertain as to whether this is right for you and your partner, we are happy to utilize those screening appointments to address any questions or concerns you might have.
Given the complex nature of some relationship challenges and their need for more focused 1:1 attention over a longer period of time, our weekend workshops are not appropriate for couples struggling with active affairs, active domestic violence, or active psychosis.
2 / Will this weekend help our relationship?
Every couple is unique in their history, current concerns, and goals for their partnership. As such, we are unable to make guarantees about the progress you can anticipate. However, we structure the weekend to ensure that, as we get started, we understand the progress you're hoping to make and the barriers you believe you're facing. We cover a range of topics applicable to strengthening any relationship, and we tailor private couples therapy sessions to the specific needs you and your partner have shared. Generally, we treat this weekend as a means for jumpstarting progress toward your goals. In some cases, couples feel able to carry that work forward independently, and in other cases, couples choose to seek out further individual or couples therapy for additional support.
3 / Do we have to be married to participate?
No-- All adult couples, in any stage of their relationship, are welcome!
4 / What is the general structure of the weekend?
All couples begin with brief, virtual screening appointments prior to reserving their spot. Each weekend is booked for 2-3 couples, and workshops are held in-person. Friday and Saturday run from ~8:30am-6pm, and Sunday runs from ~8:30am-4pm [with a midday lunch break]. Each day includes couples therapy, group therapy, therapist-guided practice of learned skills, and reflection-based activities.
5 / What if I'm interested in attending, but my partner isn't?
Because the weekend is structured around couples therapy, it's important that both partners are invested in attending and participating. If your partner is on the fence and open to discussing further, we would be happy to utilize our 15 minute screener phone call to help you and your partner come to a joint decision.
6 / What if we're interested in attending, but unsure about the group component?
It's common for couples to feel a bit nervous or uncomfortable about the idea of meeting with other couples! In general, we find that people are able to shake those nerves pretty quickly once they meet one another. Group therapy is a valued component of our weekend workshops for many reasons: Couples benefit from hearing one another's perspectives, couples feel empathy and validation from those who have gone through similar experiences, and each couple contributes unique dynamics and insights that are meaningful for the group as a whole. As with any group therapy, privacy and confidentiality are taken seriously and all couples commit to keeping shared information in the therapy space.
7 / Who are the therapists providing treatment?
Services are provided by Dr. Casey Dillon and Dr. Meghann Sallee.
You can learn more about Dr. Dillon on this website's "About" tab.
Dr. Sallee is a licensed clinical psychologist based in Florida, providing in-person services to those residing in-state and telehealth services to those residing in PsyPact-participating states. Dr. Sallee writes, "One of my passions is helping people live healthier, more fulfilling lives. My previous work experience has been across a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, medical centers, and schools, with children, adults, families, and couples. I received my doctorate from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!) and completed my internship (Duke University Medical Center) and fellowship (Durham VA Medical Center) in North Carolina. I am happy to now call Florida home. I am here to work along side you through life’s most complex and difficult matters. I truly care about my patients’ well-being and provide evidence-based psychological services catered to their needs."
As you may have gathered, Drs. Dillon and Sallee met in graduate school and became fast friends. We treasure the opportunity to combine our professional knowledge and experience, and to apply it to an effort we both share such passion for. We are committed to helping you and your partner take concrete steps toward your relationship goals, and we hope that our compassionate, honest, and easy-going natures create a space that allows you to feel comfortable, vulnerable, and courageous in your therapeutic work.
8 / What types of therapy do you use during the weekend workshops?
All treatment is evidence-based, and primarily stems from The Gottman Method. Drs. John and Julie Gottman are world-renowned for their approach to couples therapy, and their interventions are respected as the gold-standard of care. As clinically appropriate for each individual couple, other evidence-based treatments may include: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Collaborative and Proactive Solutions.
9 / What are your rates?
Weekend workshop rates are set at $2,500 per couple. This includes a complementary 15 minute screener phone call, as well as 30 minute, virtual individual therapy appointments for both you and your partner. These appointments are intended to ensure all parties believe this workshop could be a good fit as you work together toward your joint goals. If a determination is made that this workshop is not the right step for you and your partner, the only associated fee is for the completed individual therapy sessions [$100/session]. This fee includes recommendations and/or referrals to help point you and your partner in the right direction for reaching your relationship goals.
If you decide to move forward with reserving your spot at a weekend workshop, you will next receive assessment paperwork to complete and return, which allows us to begin preparing your treatment plan. The weekend then includes assessment feedback, goal-setting, couples therapy, group therapy, and skills practice. The weekend concludes with discharge planning, in which we help you and your partner consider how best to maintain and continue building upon the progress you've made.
Each day will include a continental breakfast, as well as beverages and snacks. Meals and lodging are not included.
